      That it is hard, and that you don’t know the answer to everything. That is why you became a scientist, to find the answers!

      To have a firm grasp of your subject and to keep up to date.

      There are no stupid questions.
      There’s always something else to find out.
      The basic rules of physics and chemistry really do help explain an awful lot of the world around us.

      That it is ok to not know everything, that it is ok to make mistakes, and that paying attention is super important. 🙂 Also, it’s really important to have fun and work with good people.

      A lot of people think that science is somehow superior to other views of the world. It’s not – and that is important to know, as a scientist.
