Sonia Lenehan answered on 5 Nov 2018:

We think that there are roughly 100 billion cells in the average persons brain. We are usually born with a lot more, with our brains only keeping the ones we need as we grow older. This is known as ‘Cells who fire together, wire together’ which scientists call the Hebb’s law.
