The Neon Zone student winner is…

Megan, congratulations! During every event we ask the scientists and moderators to nominate their top student — one who’s made the most of the event, shown enthusiasm and asked some really great questions. Megan from Killinarden Community School was nominated for “asking very insightful questions and responded to answers with interesting further questions. I really enjoyed speaking with Megan!” Their ASK questions included “what was it like to work on a river that flowed off of a volcano?” and “what made you become a scientist?” As the student winner, Megan will receive a certificate and a gift voucher. Well done to Megan, and to everyone who took part. There were so many interesting questions, and comments, but there could only be one winner in each zone. PS: YOU now have the power to say which scientists and engineers take part next time — click here to be the judge.

I am so thrilled to have won. I had such an amazing time talking to all the schools and answering all the smart, well thought out questions that every student had for me. Thank you to the other scientist in the Neon Zone, you made these two weeks incredibly interesting and full of evidence-based information. To the I’m a Scientist team, thank you for running this incredible event, it has been a very special experience! I also want to thank the INFANT centre and University College Cork for recognising the importance of STEM engagement and for … Continue reading
